• Run SqlToMongo.exe, you can see the main window UI like below screenshot.

image

  • If you have saved settings or load settings, you can see the settings have been restored in UI, like below screenshot.

image

  • Fill Microsoft SQL Server Connection String and click Test Connection. The contents in window shows the Version & OS information if the connection test is passed, like below screenshot. Otherwise, it would show error message to help you troubleshooting.

image

  • Whatever you have loaded the setting from file ,SQL server or any other ways, you can always load all available tables from target MSSQL Server. And by default, all tables are selected for migrating.

image

  • You can select the tables which you want to migrate, and fill Primary Key Column, Mongo Collection and Page Size.
    • Primary Key Column: The specific column would be as _id in MongoDB. Default is the first column.
    • Mongo Collection: The mongo collection for saving data. Default is as same as table in MSSQL.
    • Page Size: When migrating huge numbers of data, page is needed to improve performance. Default is 500 records.
  • When you have filled MongoDB collection string, you’d better click Test Connection to verify the connection. Like Test Connection for MSSQL, it would show window to tell you the connection is passed or not. If passed, the current database size would be displayed.

image

  • When each setting is OK, you can click Start to execute migration. You can see a command window popup and in which, the status and result are displayed.

image

  • Actually, the core functionalities are in the console application. So you can also click Save Cmd in window to run it later or again.
  • I guess you have finished the migration successfully. If you have any question or suggestion, please feel free to contact me via rynn.wang@live.com .

Thank you.
